KEX Knowledge Exchange AG has started the consortium project “Smart Production, Products and Services” with the first of two Kick-Off Events in Aachen on September 12th. The second will be on October 12th.
Aim of the project is to provide a structured overview in the field of digitalization. Therefore approx. 300 smart applications and technologies in the field of smart products and production will be structured and evaluated. Helping the partners to select the most promising solutions and to avoid dead-ends.
The partners will receive a deep technological insight into a selection of the most promising solutions. In the last part of the project they will learn how to apply new services and business models on basis of these solutions.
Furthermore, in the project we will promote valuable exchange between the most relevant international industry partners.
The project is conducted together with a strong team of experts from Fraunhofer IPT and different institutes of RWTH Aachen University: The Laboratory of Machine Tools and Production Engineering WZL, the Institute for Industrial Management FIR, the Research Area Technology, Innovation, Marketing and Entrepreneurship TIME, the Chair of Production Engineering of E-Mobility Components PEM and the Demonstration Factory Aachen.
At the Kick-Off meeting participating companies ranging from mid-size to very large companies in diverse industries such as automotive, sportswear and smart home have identified that many challenges faced at the moment are very similar between them. Identified focus topics include the handling of multi variant products also for large scale products, retracing a product from a customer complaint back to a suppliers charge or the individual production processes and the input technologies of the future.
The project will run until June 2018.
